(This is the time of year when the horse racing season for the Ivory Pine Syndicate is winding down, but the soccer season for the Rosevelt Soccer Club is gearing up. Here's a 90-day glimpse of the day in the life of a horse racing managing partner and soccer club administrator.)
Awoke, 9:39a
After coaching a training session on August 19, I felt really dizzy and nauseous. My symptoms didn't get much better the next day, and they didn't improve the day after that.
In fact, I've been dealing with vertigo and vertigo-related symptoms since mid-August, though trips to the doctor's office and various medications over the last few months have improved my situation enough for me to be (mostly) functional. But I still have bad days--or more accurately, bad stretches of a few hours--every once in a while, and today was one of those days.
Watched races, 12:30p-4:15p
If you're home sick on the couch all day, there are worse things to do then watch live racing at Aqueduct and Keeneland, and just place cheap rooting wagers on the races to keep it interesting.
Attended older daughter's high school soccer game, 4:45p-7p
I was feeling well enough to attend our daughter's game in Portland, but my most persistent symptom--sensitivity to loud noises--usually requires me to watch her games separated from the crowds.
Our daughter's recent hobby of chopping and stacking wood is an interesting wrinkle to her usual pre-game routine.
Asleep, 10:14p
