(This is the time of year when the horse racing season for the Ivory Pine Syndicate is winding down, but the soccer season for the Rosevelt Soccer Club is gearing up. Here's a 90-day glimpse of the day in the life of a horse racing managing partner and soccer club administrator.)

Our club's apparel sponsor is Junction Bowl, a restaurant based in Gorham. It has a couple sister establishments, Red City Alehouse and Sidecar Pub, and the latter has been the site of a couple pre-game gatherings before recent games at either the University of Southern Maine or Gorham High School.

Today's pre-game session also included an informal meeting with a prospective new coach for our club this season.

Attended older daughter's high school game, 6:30p-8p

It was senior night at our daughter's high school game, and the town-based U14 Girls team I've been coaching for the last six years were ball girls for the game.

A volunteer photographer takes action shots at pretty much every game for the high school girls' program, and her shot the varsity team and our U14 Girls team lined up for the national anthem (above) is one of my favorite shots. It's a metaphorical representation of the life cycle of every high school program, with a senior class being replaced with an incoming freshmen class. And with our older daughter being a senior and our younger daughter being a freshmen next season, it's a stark reminder of the life cycle of parenthood.
