90 Days: Thursday, October 10 (Day No. 5)

(This is the time of year when the horse racing season for the Ivory Pine Syndicate is winding down, but the soccer season for the Rosevelt Soccer Club is gearing up. Here's a 90-day glimpse of the day in the life of a horse racing managing partner and soccer club administrator.)

Awoke, 5:40a

Let out and fed Jasper, 5:40a-6a

Prepared and ate breakfast, 5:40a-6:15a

Updated journal, 6:15a-6:30a

Updated Ivory + Rose Diarist, 6:30a-6:45a

RSC admin, 7a-7:15a

Worked at Westbrook High School, 7:30a-2:30p

Afternoon snack, 3:45p-4p

Napped, 4p-4:30p

Maine Soccer Association admin, 5p-5:30p

It's the rare day this time of year when it's a weekday afternoon or evening, and we don't have anywhere to be. This type of day actually reminds me more of an in-season afternoon between January-June, when I can go home, brew an afternoon coffee, eat a light snack, and nap before knocking out some admin work.

Nine of us Maine-based clubs founded the Maine Soccer Association last year, so that we could organize 23U programming that would be sanctioned by the U.S. Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and connected with the U.S. Soccer Federation.

Besides organizing 23U programming, we're also working on including Maine's other soccer stakeholders in the creation of a Maine Soccer Hall of Fame, and working with the USASA develop an annual men's and women's soccer tournament based in Maine.

Prepared and ate supper, 5p-6:30p

Clean kitchen, good ingredients, and an interesting podcast.

Tonight's meal was roasted chicken; mashed potato; and sauteed shallots, carrots, mushrooms, and corn. And the podcast was Pablo Torre Finds Out, which puts out some of the most interesting, wide-ranging, and smart episodes every week.

Hung out with family around fire pit, 7:30p-8:15p

We've renovated our house quite a bit since we bought it in December 2019, but one of my favorite additions is the fire pit we had built in our backyard. We use it year-round, but this is peak fire pit season and it's one of the most common gathering spots for our family of four that's usually juggling four different schedules.

Watched Survivor, 8:15p-9:45p

Survivor has always been a family show. It's a show my parents, brothers, and I always watched together growing up, and it's a show our family watches together.

Asleep, 10:55p
