90 Days: Tuesday, October 8 (Day No. 3)

(This is the time of year when the horse racing season for the Ivory Pine Syndicate is winding down, but the soccer season for the Rosevelt Soccer Club is gearing up. Here's a 90-day glimpse of the day in the life of a horse racing managing partner and soccer club administrator.)

Awoke, 5:06a

Let out and fed Jasper, 5:06a-5:15a

Prepared breakfast and, 5:06a-5:30a

One of my favorite daily routines is making my first cup of coffee: I let out Jasper, put water on our stove top to boil, fill Jasper's dishes with food and water, grind the whole coffee beans, let in Jasper, and use my AeroPress to brew the cup.

My preferred mug this time of year is my Protagonist Soccer mug, because it's a regular reminder of the daily grind of administrative diligence that's still required to continue building an independent soccer club from scratch.

Updated journal, 5:30a-5:45a

Played chess, 5:45a-6a

Updated Ivory + Rose Diarist, 6:30a-6:45a

Worked at Westbrook High School, 7:30a-2:30p

Rosevelt SC admin, 2:30p-3:30p

Our club hosted our player evaluations for the upcoming season back in June, and our programming doesn't start until January. But this is the time of year when we need to pick up where we left off in June to continue building the administrative structure for our upcoming season.

Most of the work today was updating our unofficial team rosters in the Google Doc we use to ensure our teams' official rosters in GotSport are accurate, updating our club directory to ensure our current players receive our initial club-wide update communication, and updating the Google Doc we use to keep track of our 300+ players' uniform numbers.

Watched older daughter's high school soccer game, 4:30p-6p

My wife and I usually attend our daughter's games, but the logistics (earlier start, work meetings, away game) and health (a bad day in my ongoing issues with vertigo) are such today that we decide to watch the game from home.

As mentioned before, Maine high school programs have gotten much better about live-streaming and recording games. So we fire up our TV, order dinner from the local Mexican restaurant down the street, and watch the game from our couches.

We still prefer actually being at the game, but this didn't suck.

Watched Culinary Class War, 6p-8:30p

Asleep, 9:07p
