90 Days: Friday, November 1 (Day No. 27)

(This is the time of year when the horse racing season for the Ivory Pine Syndicate is winding down, but the soccer season for the Rosevelt Soccer Club is gearing up. Here's a 90-day glimpse of the day in the life of a horse racing managing partner and soccer club administrator.)

Awoke, 5:14a

Worked at Westbrook High School, 7:30a-2:30p

Ate dinner at Pat's Pizza, 4:15p-5p

Our older daughter's high school playoff game in Scarborough started at 5p, so Pat's Pizza was the logical spot for a pre-game dinner. Finding one of the only open barstools in their "Big A Sports Bar" perched in front of the only TV showing America's Day at the Races coverage of racing at Aqueduct was an unexpected bonus.

Attended older daughter's high school game, 5p-6:45p

Watched Breeders' Cup races, 5p-8p

One of Ivory Pine's partners is also involved in the Thoroughbred partnership Donegal Racing, so watching one of our partner's horses Gate To Wire compete in the highest levels of our sport while standing at the fence of a high school soccer game was a pretty surreal experience.

It's not the same as when Sixby Hanover made his debut on May 7, 2022 in Cumberland within hours of our partner's horse Mo Donegal finishing in fifth place at that year's Kentucky Derby. But it's still a reminder that in horse racing you're almost so close--yet so far away--from competing at the highest levels.

Asleep, 9:21p
