90 Days: Thursday, October 31 (Day No. 26)

(This is the time of year when the horse racing season for the Ivory Pine Syndicate is winding down, but the soccer season for the Rosevelt Soccer Club is gearing up. Here's a 90-day glimpse of the day in the life of a horse racing managing partner and soccer club administrator.)

Awoke, 5:37a

Watched Daily Racing Form's Breeders' Cup Webinar, 6a-6:30a

YouTube is usually my background audio when I've going through my weekday morning routine, so this roundtable handicapping session featuring the legendary handicapper Andy Beyer was this morning's listen. Feel like I'm starting to put together strong opinions on potential singles, fades, and live long shots before digging into handicapping the races myself.

Watched races, 3:30p-4:30p

There's no better day-to-day coverage of racing than America's Day at the Races covered of the NYRA circuit at Aqueduct, Belmont Park, and Saratoga.

I've been streaming this show on a regular basis since 2019, and the personalities and their coverage of the races is as familiar and comforting as any other homer broadcast for other sports. A must-watch show, and a good model for other circuits' programming.

It's Halloween, and we hosted friends for some festivities that included our 4-year-old British chocolate lab Jasper cutting one of his legs in the yard (hence the makeshift outfit to prevent him from licking or gnawing at the bandage). But before calling it a day, tried to make some progress on a few to-do items for our upcoming annual meeting and kick-off event.

Maine Soccer Association admin, 3:45p-4p

Also tried to cross off a couple quick to-do tasks for an event the Maine Soccer Association may be co-hosting with the U.S. Adult Soccer Association next summer.
