(This is the time of year when the horse racing season for the Ivory Pine Syndicate is winding down, but the soccer season for the Rosevelt Soccer Club is gearing up. Here's a 90-day glimpse of the day in the life of a horse racing managing partner and soccer club administrator.)

Even though our club's full-time programming doesn't start until the first week in January, we've been on the clock to meet deadlines over the last week: Preparing our online apparel store for players' orders; preparing, reviewing, and sharing our teams' winter schedules; and preparing our RSC Boys Academy team for the college showcase in Massachusetts.
Yesterday we were able to launch our store, share an outline of our teams' winter schedules with our members, and host our first training session of the 2024-2025 season when our RSC Boys Academy played under the lights at the University of Southern Maine.
We'll likely still need to do more work related to our online store (rollouts rarely go without a hiccup or two); we still need to create a week-by-week breakdown of our teams' Sunday sessions, when we'll need to use a rotating cycle schedule to maximize our teams' use of indoor field space; and we're still scrambling a bit to prepare and generate our RSC Boys Academy official roster, primarily issues with SafeSport's 90-minute training module for players who are already 18 years old or will turn 18 before August 1, 2025.
The grind is real, even during holiday season.

In July 2023, three of us Maine clubs organized the first club-generated 23U programming in state history with a 2-day schedule for three 23U Men's teams, and last summer our efforts included more clubs (five), more play dates (four), and more divisions (men's and women's).
Next summer, we want to expand each of our men's and women's divisions to feature at least four clubs, and we want to adopt a league schedule that features between 4-7 games.
That planning will begin in earnest in a couple weeks, so yesterday I sent out the four schedule options to the clubs who've rostered teams the last couple summers. We'll decide which option we prefer, and then we'll start working with prospective clubs in January.
