The Portland Hearts of Pine has signed Khalid Hersi as the first Mainer on its roster. The former Lewiston star helped guide the Lewiston High School soccer team to the 2019 state final and later played for the University of Southern Maine. Most recently, Hersi played for the Lewiston-based Wahda United FC in the United Premier Soccer League, where he secured a role on the league’s Team of the Season, Hearts of Pine said in an announcement Wednesday.
