Headlines: U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Round No. 2 Preview
This weekend kicks off the largest round of qualifying games in the Modern Era (1995-present) of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. The 22 winners from September’s opening round will join 96 teams that received byes. The grand total: 118 teams playing 59 matches spread out from Friday to Sunday. Beginning with Friday’s lone game between Western Mass Pioneers and Atletico Boston, 21 games will be played on Saturday, Oct. 11 and the remaining 37 will kick off on Sunday, Oct. 12.
